Socialising animals
Some of our dogs are traumatised and not very social with people (they are not agressive, only scared), so their adoption is going to be difficult. There are some that are simply not adoptable because of that.
However, in case of many of them, they can be socialised: we can teach them to walk on the leash and to have more contact with people. This is a task for which we need volunteers.
We need people to choose an animal and walk it on the leash, mostly inside the shelter and to give it some attention and cuddles so it would realise that humans can be friends. This can help an animal to relax and to become adoptable.
Don't hesitate to visit us and help a chosen dog in that way help. We have Belita, Mupi, Elisa, Madi, Mary, Lucky, Mariana and some others in this situation.
It will be a challenge for the dog and for you. You can help it be reborn! Join us!

More toys! Some dogs destroyed them in 5 minutes, some hid in their houses where they will lay as their treasure for days and some walk proudly with them in their mouth but did not destroy them.
Anyway, they enjoyed!
Fafa fully recovered!!
Fafa had her teeth surgery and now she is totally fine and ready to go to a new home - that she is still waiting for.
Adamastor (Adopted!)
Adamastor was found in Quinta do Conde, where he lived, with his leg totally crashed. His owners died and the dog ended up living on street where he was fed by the neighbours but one day a car crashed him.
It injury was so bad that his leg had to be amputated. It was inoperable.

He is still in veternary but soon he will be ready to leave.
It is not difficult to have a handicapped dog in the shelter. And he is not used to be on the chain - he used to have a home, an owner, he is used to be free, not on the chain - he needs a home/This adoption is very urgent. Please help us!!

Competition "The most original photo"
The competition "The most original photo" is an initiative which aims to find and reward the most original photograph of a pet.
The Competition will be held at Bianca Charity Festival on the 10th of July in Mercado da Lagoa de Albufeira, Sesimbra.
How to apply: give us a picture of your pet on paper (maximum size A4) during the Festival until 19h.
At 19h30 the jury will elect the most original picture.
At 20h the winner will be announced.
2nd and 3rd places will be also awarded.
Let's make cute pictures!

Remember our adoption campaigns this weekend!
On Saturday, 29 May Bianca will hold two adoption campaigns:
1. Animal adoption and food collection campaign in "Jumbo Natureza" store next to Forum Almada between 11 and 18h
2. Cat adoption and food collection campaign in supermarket Modelo in Sesimbra/Carrasqueira passing the round-about on EN 378.
We urgently need food for our dogs and cats, help us, come and buy a bag of food in the supermarket (dry food and cans)!
We have 14 kittens and 24 puppies aged 6 to 12 weeks for adoption that desperately need a home.
Please pass the information.

Unfortunaly, her mother is another case. She doesn't let anyone touch her, hold her and she does not enter the trap. It is a very complicated situation. She can have puppies again, again and again.

Paulinho needs your help
This puppy, Paulinho, was rescued from a gipsy camp.
For nearly a month one of our volunteer was seeing a small puppy attached with a cord to the fence with his leg in the air. Obviously the leg was broken and not treated so it healed badly and the puppy is not using it.
The puppy is small and thin, he cannot be more than 5 months old.
One day the luck was on his and our side. He broke the cord and run away, straight into protective arms.
His leg was indeed broken and badly healed, it needs to be operated. And he has a wound on his neck when the tight cord was.
At the beginning he did not understand human kindness so he growled at everyone but now he got used to, he understands we want to help him and he has become a sweet puppy. A 5- month old puppy to growl at puppy - he must have been very badly treated to react like this.
Now he is in a temporary family, because he does not have any vaccinations. Only when he has got his second vaccination he will be operated on his leg.
We need support for his surgery!!

Catching Alina
First one of our volunteers managed to catch 6 male puppies, 8 weeks old. They were given birth by a fugitive female dog who does not approach people in a remote stone quarry and when he noticed the puppies, he caught them. They were already 8 weeks old, never met a human, so they were very scared and not easy to catch. But they are now in a temporary family and have become social in a very short time.
But one puppy was left.... She was very difficult to catch.
On Sunday a group of volunteers went back there to catch her. She was laying in the sun and we managed to surprise her. It was not easy, but she got caught. She ran away and then hid herself in a hole from which there was no exit so the only option was to come to us. She is now in the same temporary family, with her brothers, already more social and waiting for aa permanent home.
On the same day we tried to catch a scared dog that we were seeing for some time. She is pregnant and with wounded leg. She is very scared of people but it is very important to catch her. Unfortunately we did not see her anymore...But one puppy was left.... She was very difficult to catch.

A few days ago we got a donation of 20 dog toys: we distributed them among a few that seemed eager to have something to chew and they were SOOOO happy.
So here we have a request: send us toys for our dogs! They don't last long ;) But they make them so happy!

Bianca has at the moment 26 puppies of age between 6 and 12 weeks. And 11 more puppies of age 4 to 8 months. All sizes: small, medium and big. These puppies need to be urgently adopted. We invite potential adoptants to our shelter on Saturday.

Presenting: Cyra for adoption
Cyra was abandoned at the shelter with two of her brothers one night at the end of 2007, as 3-month old puppies. The brothers were adopted, one sooner, the other later but Cyra has been with us all her life and she is now 2,5 years old.
She is a bit shy because she does not know outside world, but she is learning. For the last month she has been in a temporary home, learnt to walk on the leash, be house-clean and generally socialise. She is shy with people she does not know but nice with all other dogs, calm and obedient.
She needs a permanent home - she has never had one!
She is a cross podenga with dense fur, one blue and one brown eye, 43 cm high and weighs 15 kg.

Do you remember Parral?
Do you remember Parral, a sweet and young dog, very skinny and without one eye? Well, almost two months later... and he is playful, very pretty and not so skinny. Just needs a new family so the story would have a super happy ending!

Fafa
Fafa is a sweet lovely female dog that has been with us for only one week. Now we found out that she has a broken tooth and it is getting infection. Therefore she will need to be operated but we need godmothers and godfathers for her surgery - please help us. She is in pain but we are giving her pain medication.
