Aladino with a broken leg (adopted)

Aladino was found near a school with a broken leg. He was quickly operated.
But soon he will have to come to our shelter and we don't have space and conditions for dogs in recovery. So it would be better if he could find a home before he leaves the vet. So his adoption is really URGENT. He is very gentle and friendly.

Ner looking for a new home (adopted)

Ner was operated and she is recovering very well, as you can see on the photos. A sweet and lovely dog... The ideal would be if she could find a home very soon, directly from the vet, to avoid her going to the shelter.

Wendy (died....)

Wendy is almost cured! Look at her now...
Her problem was her thyroid, so she only needs to take her daily medication and she will be fine.
It all started with a small infection but as it was not treated, the infection developped into something big, pure negligence of the owners. Her low defences to due the thyroid problem helped the infection to spread but now with the medication her defences will be reinforced.

Wendy needs a new home!

Tiara (adopted)

Tiara was abandoned on the road between Santana e Sesimbra, where she was seen several times walking around being almost hit by a car everytime. But she always ran away from people because she was scared.
Meanwhile, she her heat period started and the dogs started to follow her. Yesterday she was running away from all the dogs that were following her and she entered the Santa Joana playground, where she was safe  from the others because of the fence. Exhausted, she lied down and Bianca volunteers manage to catch her. Now she will be sterilised and needs to be socialised to be adopted, because so far she is very scared of people.

Tiara is a small female dog, with approximately 6kgs, gentle and shy. She only needs lots of love, something that her ex-owners didn't give her.

Tristan and Isolda - a story of love and devotion (adopted)

These two gentle dogs, a female cross collie and a male cross boxer were seen for some time on the streets in Quinta do Conde. The female was at some point with heat and followed by many dogs ansd then we started to see her with one dog only. We knew that the most probbaly she was pregnant and we needed to have her sterilised if we did not want puppies being born on the street and ending up in our shelter anyway. She was the priority so we tried to take only her. One of our volunteers went to where she was and tried to put her in the car to take to the vet. You cannot imagine the resistance they put when being separated: they were not agressive to the girl, on the contrary, but they were simply desperate, trying to stick together, running to each other, lying flat on the ground. She finally managed to put Isolda in the car and you cannot imagine Tristan's desperation when left behind - he cried, he run, he howled. And you cannot imagine Isolda's depression when she arrived alone to the vet - she was just lying there, not moving, not reacting to anything. So we went back to get Tristan - and there are no words to describe their happiness when reunited. We understood that they have been together for a very long time, probably were abandoned together and they are absolutely devoted to each other. They walk everywhere together, they sleep next to each other, they constantly look to see where is the other one. At the same time they are nice to other dogs and very gentle with people. This is why we are looking for someone that would like to give home to both of them. They are inseparable.

Tristan has a little wound on his eye that he probably gained from some other dog when Isolda was on the street with heat but the wound is superficial and will soon heal.

The story of Asterix and Obelix

Obelix appeared on the street when a puppy of 5 months. Puppies usually do not survive long alone - they are not "street-wise", most of them die hit a by car or die of hunger. But another dog, an adult who had been living on the street for some time, took care of him. They were always together, Obelix and Asterix. Half a year passed and Obelix grew twice as big as Asterix. We did not have place in the shelter, so one of us gave them food every evening - the only thing we could do. But one day an available kennel was found, so we took them in. Finally safe from the dangers of the street.

The two dogs share a kennel and even if they have two houses, they prefer to sleep in one. They eat from one bowl. They are now both castrated and vaccinated and wait to be rehomed but only together - this excepcional friendship has to be respected.

Ner found in Lagoa! (adopted)

Ner was found on the road in Lagoa's direction, with a broken leg. This fracture is not recent, might have been days since she broke her leg.
She is super sweet and gentle and the family who found her gave her the name Ner because it consists of the first letters of the names of their sons.
Ner is a cross boxer. We hope Ner will recover well and will soon might find a new home.
Bianca is at this moment without any space for new animals as well without money to pay the costs of veterinary treatment. Help us: we need temporary families and financial donations.

Please help us and our animals!
