This dog was living on a round-about in Santana for one and half month. It appeared there one day and since then it has been spending his days there. He was not trustful, he did not like people approaching him. Not that many tried either....
On Sunday afternoon (yesterday!), one of Bianca volunteers with the help of a young man who lived nearby manged to catch him! It was not easy.... they could not scare the dog so he would not run away, it was too dangerous with all those cars curculating and none of them stopping. But finally, they managed. And once caught, the dog appeared to be gentle and even grateful....
We named him "Gigante Patudo" which means Giant Bigfoot because he is very big. Now he is in Bianca shelter and because he is very old he will be part of our "3rd generation group". There are already so many old dogs we have.... How can someone who had a dog all his/her life abandon him when old and when he needs care the most?
This dog is obviously not used to live on the street, he is thin, he has not eaten for days, he is not "street wise".
We need fostering parents for him to assure him a certain quality of life in the shelter: food and medications. He needs to to take daily medication for arthritis (condroprotector) until the end of his life.
At the moment he has a swollen ankle so he is in pain and it is hard for him to walk. But this will be treated.

Gigante Patudo is not with us anymore.... He died one night in January 2010. At least his last months were happy ones - he got treatment, love, cuddling, whatever good we could offer to an old dog.
